DHS Unveils New Plan To Collect Data From Immigrants
The Trump administration has expressed plans to collect more biometric data from immigrants including but not limited to DNA evidence, Facial recognition data, and eye scans. Immigrants will have to submit this data alongside their immigrant visa applications. DHS has yet to publish this plan and it might take months before it does. This move is seen as the newest attack on Legal immigration and is sure to face challenges in court. This is just another case of government agencies using facial recognition on immigrants. Back in August ICE signed a contract with the facial recognition company Clearview AI. Clearview has come under scrutiny for using pictures on social media without permission from the tech companies or the owners of the pictures.
